tip-cabletv-super---Ditch the cable

Ditch the cable and opt for a subscription service that mail DVDs to your home or rent from the library. You can get your favorite cable series that way. What about sports? Follow them for cheap online. You'll still come out ahead than if you subscribe to the premium package.

Internet TV

If you already pay for a fast internet connection, many public and cable networks air shows over the internet with only minor decreases in quality. Also, free sites such as Hulu.com, as well as some pay sites, host a wide variety of shows and movies. This may serve your needs as well as or better than cable television. The only drawbacks are buffer underruns -- which can stuttering of the image and audio -- and attempts by advertising companies to slip spyware into your computer. Be sure to research the validity and safety of a site before watching, much as you should with any online merchant, and at minimum activate Windows Firewall for protection. I recommend finding reputable freeware programs such as are provided by AVG and AdAware. Disclaimer - I am in no way endorsing or advertising the use of the products mentioned above.
