Success!

I decided at the beginning of the year, to deposit $100 from each paycheck (once a month) and each honoraria (I'm a pastor, and get these from weddings and funerals) into a savings account. When that account hit $500, I'd deposit into a 6 month cd. When that matures, I'll add my savings account (still doing that $100 a month!) contents to it and deposit it in a longer term cd. And just keep going.

Well, today I deposited that first $500 in a cd. Success! I know it's not much, but I've been horrible about saving. That I've done this much feels great.
