Does anyone know of a good source for bulk purchasing of household items such as tissue paper, canned goods, soap, deoderant, and other items that last a long time and are sure to be used up eventually? It occurred to me that there are many items my wife and I use daily that we purchase one at a time and I don't know of anywhere to purchase these items in bulk other than Costco or Sam's Wholesale. After many trips to these places I noticed that the savings offered at these establishments were meant for resaraunts, catering companies, and businesses rather than small families. I mean, who needs a gallon of mayo at home:) I need to purchase normal sized items in bulk. Any ideas?

i love costco, but it can be

i love costco, but it can be wasteful if you don't have a big family. My husband's side of the family is large, so I always go with his mother to costco and pick up our household items there. We haven't had to buy paper towels, q-tips, or tampons in a year.
I don't know of a normal sized bulk seller. What I usually do is take coupons with me and also buy extra when things go on sale. We buy extra cheese when it's really cheap and freeze it. but you can save TONS with coupons we saves about $23 on our grocery bill last week by doing so.

co-ops or buying clubs

Try looking for a co-op or buying club in your area. This site looks like a good start: Co-op Directory. These usually consist of people pooling resources to buy groceries and other items in bulk from distributors but you're usually able to get exactly what you want at a lower cost than at the grocery store (and probably in smaller sizes than through Sam's or Costco).

This may help

I live in NEPA. We have a place called Aldis. Its a discount store that sells food and you can buy in bulk their. They have normal sized foods. They also have other items their also. If you Aldis is like ours, make sure you take a quarter with you to release a cart. Also, make sure you take along your own boxes or bags because in our stores here, they don't bag the stuff for you. Sometimes you can get boxes their by moving some items around to empty a box, but not always. You can go to aldis.com and check them out. Hope this helps.
